Important Notice for Our Customers in the USA

De Minimis and Tariff Update for US Customers

You may have heard about recent US trade policy changes and we want to share with you how this affects ordering petal & pins if you are based in the US.

US Customs & Boarder Protection (CBP) has indicated that the new duties and taxes must be collected on goods prior to entering the US but has not yet advised how or the preferred method for duty and tax collection.

Because of this our shipping partner Australia Post (like most postal services around the world) have temporarily suspended shipping parcels to the US.

Consequently, until clarification and processes are in place we are temporarily pausing taking your orders until such time as we can confidently continue to offer you the same level of service you have come to expect from us.

Be assured we are looking into options to be able to resume shipping orders and have them be compliant with CBP requirements to you as soon as possible and will keep you posted on developments.

We hope to be able to accept your orders again so you can continue to offer your customers petal & pins beautiful and unique botanical art products.

We'll Keep You Updated

To not be able to accept your orders at this time is tough for us as we love partnering with you and all our US retailers who have welcomed petal & pins onto their shelves since 2012.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to get in touch.

For more information regarding these changes please continue reading the information below.

What is the US de minimis policy change and how does it impact your international shipments?

On July 30, 2025, the US government announced that it will remove the de minimis exemption for all goods from all other countries, effect August 29, 2025.

Before August 29, 2025, international shipments valued under $800 qualified for the de minimis exemption, allowing them to enter the US without duties and taxes.

However, starting August 29, 2025, the US will eliminate the de minimis exemption for all international commercial shipments. This means all shipments - regardless of value or origin - will be subject to import duties and formal customs processing.

After August 29, duties will be calculated in one of two ways:

  • Ad Valorem Duty: A percentage-based fee based on the value of goods and the country-specific tariff rate.
  • Specific Duty*: A temporary flat-rate fee of $80 to $200 per package, depending on the country of origin. *This option will only be available during a 6 month transition period.

Shipping carriers will choose which duty calculation method to apply. After the transition period, all shipments will default to the ad valorem duty structure.

Importantly, and in a significant change from standard global practice, US tariffs are now mandated to be collected before parcels reach the US border.

Unfortunately, most postal services including Australia Post, are not currently equipped to do this which is why they have paused shipping to the US entirely.

We look forward to the day we can once again offer US customers our collections!
